Lewis W. Hine(1874 - 1940) worked as an investigative photographer for the National Child Labor Committee bringing to light the working conditions of children throughout the United States. His photographic exposes were instrumental in bringing about legislative reform in regards to child labor. The photographs in this exhibit are from the Calhoun County area, and were provided to the library by the University of Maryland, Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery, from their Lewis W. Hine Collection. |
